ABSTRACT
Improvements in life quality, supported by technological developments, have led to a gradual aging of populations, which highlights the need to create and adopt strategies that aim to promote elderly’s physical and mental well-being. The dissemination of local events (such as popular parties or walks that take place in the area of residence and their types of gatherings) which could increase elderly’s social interactions has the potential to improve their quality of life. However, transmitting this type of information requires efficient approaches. Thus television, a medium widely used by senior people, may be a suitable device for the creation of a system that integrates a proactive personal assistant capable of mediating personalized communications. The aim of his research is to conceptualize, prototype and validate this system tuned to increase he participation of older people in society, minimizing isolation and promoting a more proactive and healthy life.
